NANOOSE EDIBLES FARM – CELEBRATING OVER 26 YEARS SERVING THE REGION WITH FRESH, NUTRITIOUS, ORGANIC PRODUCE

NEW WINTER Market Hours:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 10.00am - 3.30pm (about dusk)

WE WILL CLOSE FOR THE HOLIDAYS – December 23st to January 2nd

Indoor/Outdoor Winter Market – It is getting frosty out there…  We are only able to pick when we have enough light and the crop is somewhat thawed.   However, we still have at the stand – apples, pears, salad greens, nutritional greens, kale , beets, potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, and much more.

Nanoose Edibles has now cleaned and bagged our 2013 harvest of Dried Beans.  If you haven’t tried freshly grown organic dried greens you are in for a nice surprise.  Available in sample size as well as by the pound.  Soak for 4 hours and cook for 40 minutes, turn off the heat and allow to rest in the pan.

This Christmas Season we are offering Gift Baskets made from specialty items from the neighbourhood as well as produce items from Nanoose Edibles.   These will be packaged and wrapped for gift giving – made up to your specifications.   Prices range from $30 to $50 depending on content.   Please contact us by telephone or Email and give our staff an hour or so to prepare the baskets.

Gift certificates are also available at the stand which make perfect stocking stuffers!

Every Christmas season Barbara cuts down greens and creates pots with assorted winter greens with holly. They are great to put outside on your verandah or on your front door.  It would also make a nice gift for a neighbour or as a substitute for a Christmas tree.  Price $20-$30 per pot.

Happening in the Community

Feb 21- 23, 2014 Certified Organic Association will be at the Coast Bastion Inn in Nanaimo for its annual conference – the theme this year – Work-Life Balance.

Honolulu
signed a bill on Thursday ”prohibiting biotech companies from operating on the Big Island and banning farmers from growing any new genetically altered crops.” This is big news for the GMO free community with something we all need to strive to put into place. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/05/big-island-biotech-ban_n_4395521.html

Land needs to be protected because it effects everything around it -  “Infinito Gold, a Canadian mining company, just slapped Costa Rica with a $1 billion lawsuit because the nation decided to protect its rainforests rather than host an open-pit gold mine.” http://action.sumofus.org/a/mining-costarica/8/2/?akid=3110.1848529.6wLchb&rd=1&sub=fwd&t=2
